The whole process...from inspiration to batt to handspun yarn

  1. I am so grateful to you for posting this. I have a question, tho, that has to do with what happens between photo #3 and #4. When you got to spin, do you pull the batt into roving so that the colors are pretty much run one into the next when you spin? Is it kinda like one solid color into the next solid color?

    I just love how your skeins turn out!!! The crocheted flower is lovely, too!

  2. Hi Laura.

    Yes, I just pull off strips from the batt, I start at one side and work my way over to the other side. The drum carder has done all of the work, I just grab and spin. I have found that if you "overplan" it doesn't look as nice as when you just go with it!

  3. That's how I do it, too. I've just never tried with colors going across the carder. Isn't crazy carding and spinning so much fun?!
